Class Schedule
Check out a great article about how to learn to dance Salsa written by Jake in the first issue of the iSalsa magazine in 2006. See the article at www.iSalsa.net under "Articles"(scroll to bottom). It is a nice downloadable PDF.
Group Salsa Dance Classes
Salsa Dance Classes include important basic techniques for dancing salsa, leading and following , timing, footwork, men's and women's styling, and of course different patterns each session...

Group classes in San Francisco have some great benefits! They allow you to learn more material, get warmed up, and meet other people in class to dance with later. Our group classes are in an ideal environment - Cafe Cocomo, a large salsa club in San Francisco. There is plenty of great live music that follows (and DJ during breaks) so you can get plenty of practice with people you meet there. There is also a full bar in case you're stressed about your dancing ;-)
It is VERY IMPORTANT to rotate as we instruct during class so that you can learn to lead and follow more effectively. Group classes don't allow for much individual feedback (class size is typically 50-100), but we do our best to cover important technique. That being said, if you want a check on your own technique, check out the Private classes below..

Private Classes
Private salsa classes are a great way to work on problem areas and to get a good thorough check by the instructor of how you're doing with your important basic techniques. Remember, if you can't do basics well, you'll be spinning your wheels when it comes to the hard stuff. So, you should try to concentrate on the basics first and worry about the flash later. Jake can also tutor you in understanding salsa music better too, which in turn greatly helps your dancing and enjoyment on the dance floor.
Private classes are taught by appointment at Jake's studio in Oakland, CA - close to Rockridge BART station. For classes please CONTACT Jake. Scheduling by email is the most convenient...
Private classes may be paid in advance using PayPal. Contact Jake for more information.
